While some default aircraft can be good, many are highly unrealistic and are not recommended for online flying on networks such as PilotEdge, VATSIM or IVAO. Commercial Aviation

Ever heard of the catchphrase "As Real as it Gets", well PMDG is the addon developer to go for. The level of detail and quality in each of their birds are close to unmatched. PMDG can turn you from a beginner flight simmer to a killed flight simulator pilots. With an addon this realistic you will require to read manuals, but that s just apart of the learning experience. PMDG have developed the Boeing 737, 747 and 777.

Another competitor of PMDG is FlightSimLabs. They are still fairly new to the market but have already made two astounding aircraft, the Concorde and A320 Family. If you are an Airbus fan, then FlightSimLabs is the one for you. They have created a highly detailed and quality rendition of the Concorde, which myself haven't tried, but I can guarantee it is highly worth the price.

iFly is a very new company, but have created a Boeing 737 and 747 which has provided some competition to PMDG. Despite PMDG's models being slightly better, praise needs to be given to this company for their much lower prices and excellent level of detail and quality which has matched PMDG in some areas.

Majestic Software have released a magnificent rendition of the MJC Q400 (Dash 8) Turboprop aircraft which has had high praise. The aircraft has then been divided into three categories, "Pilot Edition" which is designed for home flight-simmers, "Pro Edition" which is for advanced users or airline pilots wishing to improve their knowledge and the "Training Edition" which is dedicated to the airliners.

General Aviation

There is only one real leader here, A2A Simulations. They provide a whole variety of aircraft, from the Cessna 172 to the Lockheed L-049 Constellation. A2A is the PMDG of the general aviation market.Their aircraft are of outstanding quality and extreme realism. They also provide AccuSim and AccuFeel which are coding replacement products enhancing realism inside the sim.
