Qatar Airways launches flights to Penang

Qatar Airways launched their first non-stop flights to Penang, Malaysia. The first flight landed on 6th February 2018. This is their second destination in Malaysia.

Qatar Airways flight QR850 was operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The flight departed from Hamad International Airport at 2.30am and arrive at Penang at 2.30pm every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The flight will take approximately 7 hours for each journey.

Qatar Airways had recently launched direct services to Chiang Mai and Pattaya in Thailand, as well as adding more flights to Krabi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said: “We offer a UNESCO World Heritage city that is captivating not only our cultural diversity and religious harmony but also in offering our natural beauty and world class tourism products.”

“It is without doubt that the airport is the hub for northern Malaysia, bearing potential for increased connectivity. Having worked together for the past 17 years, we take pleasure in welcoming Qatar Airways, which will be another great addition to the existing international airlines at PIA,” Ghazali added.

With the new added route, Qatar Airways will be the first Middle Eastern airline to offer a direct flight between Doha to Penang.

In the press conference which held at the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, announced that from July 1 2018, the Doha – Penang route will be boosted to four times weekly.

Qatar Airway’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner occupies 22 seats in Business Class and 232 seats in Economy Class, making it a total of 254 sitting capacity.
