Emirates' Boeing 777-200LR upgrades to the new Game Changing Cabin

Emirates had recently introduced the redesigned game changing cabin on its Boeing 777-300ER featuring a new First, Business and Economy class back in November 2017 which completely wowed the industry. Also at the same time, Tim Clark, the airline's president disclosed that over $150 million have been invested in Boeing 777-200LRs to also be reconfigured and redesigned from a three-class to a two-class arrangement– increasing the overall accommodation from 266 to 302 seats featuring the same Ghaf-tree-motif design of the cabin and the seats just like the 777-300ER.

Finally on 5th March, on Emirates' Instagram, a post revealed the seats on the first ever refurbished 777-200LR which was set to fly on its maiden flight on the Fort Lauderdale route on 6th March; the next day.

The new 2 class layout without the First class increases the capacity of passengers resulting in higher profits for the airline.

Instead of the 2-3-2 Business Class layout on -300ER, Emirates plans to have a more spacious 2-2-2 layout consisting of 38 seats on their -200LR fleet. In addition to this, the new cabin will also feature a mini lounge for socializing and for grabbing mid-flight snacks which will be an element unique only to the 777-200LR fleet.

The economy class, as shown below, will feature the same layout as the 777-300ER; 3-4-3 consisting of 264 seats.

It was the 777-200LR which started the legacy of Emirates' 777s back in 1996 when it was first purchased. Since then, the fleet has been connected with Emirates for a long time now, rumours stated that the airline would retire the aircraft in the coming months, however this won't be the case as this $150 million investment into refurbishing the 10 -200LR aircrafts that the airline still operates states that the airline is going to hold on to the legacy of the classic aircraft that started it all for Emirates for a bit longer.
