Cathay Pacific Future Routes

The first Airbus A350-1000 (B-LXA)for Cathay Pacific has rolled out of the paint shop in Toulouse, France.

Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific will be the second carrier to operate the A350-1000, after Qatar, and has placed 20 orders for the type. The airline currently flies 22 A350-900s, a smaller variation of the aircraft. Having 22 A350s in their current fleet respectively, Cathay Pacific and Qatar Airways are the two airlines that fly the most A350s now. This is followed by Singapore Airlines which has 21 A350-900s in its current fleet. SIA will be receiving its first Airbus A350-900URL (Ultra Long Range) in mid-2018.

The A350-1000 for Cathay Pacific is configured to seat 46 passengers in Business, 32 in Premium Economy, and 256 in Economy seating 334 passengers. The A350-900 is currently configured to seat 280. Cathay Pacific has registered its first 1000 series with B-LXA (with registration F-WZGV for flight testing currently). The aircraft is set to be delivered in April. B-LAX will start its first commercial operation on the Hong Kong to Taipei route on the 1st August. Reservation is now available on Cathay Pacific's website. According to A350 Production, B-LXC, CX's second 1000 series, is having rework at Airbus Toulouse Factory.

With the introduction of new aircraft, Cathay Pacific is launching new routes that were not possible before due to aircraft capability or profitability. Here we will take a look at all new routes that Cathay Pacific has announced. 1. Hong Kong to Brussels Cathay Pacific will start flights from its base in Hong Kong to the Belgium city of Brussels on March 25, 2018. The route will be served 4 times a week by Cathay's state-of-art Airbus A350-900, which is capable of carrying 280 passengers. The flight from Hong Kong to Brussels has the flight number CX339 and the flight back is CX338. Flights will depart Hong Kong on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.

 

2. Hong Kong to Copenhagen Cathay Pacific is starting seasonal flights to Copenhagen, Denmark. Flights will start on May 2 and end on October 12, 2018. Cathay has not announced if the route will continue next year. Flights to Copenhagen will be on a three-time weekly basis. Cathay Pacific will use their Airbus A350-900 for this route. ​​

 

3. Hong Kong to Dublin Flights from Hong Kong to Dublin will be seasonal. The summer schedule on Cathay's website confirms that flights between Hong Kong and the Irish capital will begin on 2 June 2018. Flights will be four times a week, with departures on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Cathay Pacific will use their Airbus A350-900 for this route.

 

4. Hong Kong to Washington Cathay Pacific has announced that flights to the American city of Washington will be the first long-haul destination for their new Airbus A350-1000, which is expected to be delivered during summer of 2018. The service to Dulles International Airport will become the longest on the Cathay Pacific network in terms of distance at 7,085 nautical miles (8,153 miles, 13,122 kilometers). Flights will be four times a week, departing Hong Kong on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.

 

5. Hong Kong to Cape Town Cathay Pacific will begin non-stop flights to Cape Town on November 13, 2018. Flights to Cape Town will be seasonal, meaning that flights will end on February 18, 2019. Cathay Pacific's flight to Cape Town will complement their already existing daily service to Johannesburg. Flights to Cape Town will be on three times weekly based. Cathay Pacific will use their Airbus A350-900 for this route.
