3 Injured as Air India Flight Hits Severe Turbulence

Although turbulence is a common occurrence, turbulence on this flight was so intense, passengers were left terrified. An Air India flight which departed on Thursday from Amritsar bound for Delhi, had passengers extremely terrified after a window panel came off, and lots of baggage was coming out of the overhead storage bins. Not only that, but oxygen masks fell out of their pockets, scaring the passengers even more. Authorities were left puzzled. How could turbulence cause a flight to have a window panel falling off?

The Air India flight departed on Thursday at 2:50pm and flew through very severe weather conditions. Thanks to the weather conditions, some of the overhead bins opened and baggage came flying out. This is quite dangerous, and must have been very scary for some passengers. Not only that, but a window panel came off on seat 18-A. The aircraft was a Boeing 787 dreamliner which is said to have the registration VT-ANI.

The report shows that one of the passengers, who likely did not have his seat belt fastened, got bumped up thanks to the turbulence, and hit the overhead bin that was above him resulting in injuries on his head. Some sources said, “Turbulence can be really severe. The SIA incident of 2014 happened with the biggest commercial airliner, A-380, which saw many injuries. This week’s AI incident happened with a twin aisle Dreamliner. It is being probed”. Two other passengers were also injured, however the cause of their injuries has not been determined. Authorities are still investigating the case.
