Ryanair orders 25 Boeing 737 MAX 200s

European low cost giant, Ryanair, has recently ordered an additional 25 Boeing 737 MAX 200s. The low cost airline currently has 456 Boeing 737-800s in its fleet. As an all Boeing 737 operator, Ryanair has been able to dramatically lower its fares and driving competitors to also lower prices in order to compete. Ryanair has been a game changer in Europe and thanks to it, we have been able to fly at more affordable fares.

Ryanair has just exercised options for 25 Boeing 737 MAX 200s. Valued at more than $3 Billion at list prices, the aircraft should help Ryanair continue to lower costs and are considered a 'gamechanging' aircraft for the low cost carrier. The new aircraft are configured with 197 seats, a 4% increase of seats than on its Boeing 737-800s, currently the sole aircraft in its fleet, excluding one Boeing 737-700, configured with 60 seats in a Business class layout. This aircraft also delivers a noise reduction of up to 40% and a 16% decrease in fuel consumption. Ryanairs' chief financial officer, Neil Sorahan said, “We are pleased to exercise 25 Boeing 737 Gamechanger options, bringing our firm orders to 135 737-MAX-200’s with a further 75 options remaining. The Gamechanger has 8 more seats than our current 189 seat Boeing 737-800NG and incorporates the latest technology engines and winglets which will reduce fuel consumption and noise emissions, ensuring we remain Europe’s greenest, cleanest airline, while allowing us to continue to lower fares as we grow to 200m annual customers by 2024. We look forward to taking delivery of our first Gamechanger in Spring 2019". The MAX 200 variant is actually a Boeing 737 MAX 8, however it is named MAX 200 because of its large capacity holding 200 seats.

Boeing said, "Ryanair's follow-on order shows once again that the high capacity 737 MAX 8 is the perfect airplane for low cost carriers. The airplane gives our airline customers more seats to serve their core markets, maximizing revenue potential at the best cost per seat in the industry". The aircraft also incorporates new state of the art winglets, new LEAP-1B engines made by CFM International, large cockpit flight display systems, the Boeing Sky Interior and much more, all making sure the aircraft can deliver the best possible comfort and efficiency that Ryanair needs.

The Boeing 737 MAX is one of the fastest selling aircraft families in the world and has accumulated commitments for more than 4,500 jets from 96 customers worldwide!
